A Unique Charleston Experience: Second Sunday on King Street

As Charleston’s popularity continues to grow, there are countless events and happenings occurring throughout the city. For the past few years, Charleston’s Second Sunday event has been a hit for both the locals and visitors. On the second Sunday of each month, King Street is blocked off from Calhoun to Queen Street from 1 to 5 pm. It allows pedestrians to enjoy everything that King Street has to offer, while leisurely strolling through the street.  Second Sunday provides live music, and emphasizes the great shopping and abundance of different restaurants on the Charleston peninsula.

The event attracts and caters to many different people. Each month, Second Sunday on King features local bands and musicians as well as unique art exhibits to show off some of Charleston’s talent. Many of the restaurants participate in the festivities by setting up dining tables in the street to provide outside seating. For those who would like to get a quick bite to eat, stop by Co or Caviar and Bananas. If you are looking to enjoy brunch, you cannot go wrong with Beats + Brunch at Cannon Green, one of Charleston’s most popular brunch experiences with a live DJ and outdoor dining in their Courtyard. Ted’s Butcher Block will have their food truck on Lower King Street to serve fresh, gourmet sandwiches.

Whether you are looking for a place to enjoy brunch, browse through stores, or just spend a day outside with friends and family, this multi-faceted event is sure to provide positive vibes and a lively experience.
