Charleston’s Museum Mile features the richest concentration of cultural sites open to visitors in Charleston. At the north end of Museum Mile you’ll find The Charleston Museum, America’s oldest museum collection. The Charleston Museum showcases the cultural and natural history of the lowcountry with a rich variety of exhibited objects ranging from ancient fossils to civil war artifacts and historic Charleston silver.
The Gibbes Museum of Art is also along Museum Mile and focuses on art of the American South. The Gibbes presents special exhibitions year round such as Art of Design Luncheon and Lecture, Featuring Cathy Horyn, Fashion Critic for The New York Times.
