03/03 – 03/09 The Week Ahead: Charleston Wine + Food
BB&T Charleston Wine + Food Festival 2014
Charlestonians gear up for another weekend of drinking and dining delights as the BB&T Charleston Wine + Food Festival kicks off this Thursday, March 6th. The annual event, which saw more than twenty thousand visitors in 2013, celebrates Charleston’s culinary excellence and renowned culture through events held across the city.
Starting Friday morning, Marion Square turns into the Festival’s hub: The Culinary Village – a group of demo and tasting areas including the “Baker Motor Company Grand Tasting Tent” with over 40 food and beverage vendors from across the country. Beginning this year, the Village also includes the “Bay Street Pop Up Beer Garden” where guests can sample dozens of pristine potables. An $85 ticket grants you a day’s access with all food and drink included, from 11:00am – 5:00pm. Locals receive $15 off of Sunday’s ticket price!
Many of Charleston’s over 250 restaurants & food purveyors will take part in the celebration of Southern cuisine, including Zero George Street. With so many options, it’s hard to know where to head next. Lucky for you, 2014 means the festival has gone high tech. Check out the free-for-download Festival app that “organizes all of the elements of the Festival” and lists “event descriptions and participants, Culinary Village areas and vendors, and venues throughout downtown Charleston.”
Find a tasting, enjoy a cooking class, or savor a meal. From March 6th to March 9th, you can do it all!
